The Story

She died twice in one afternoon. Sam Jameson would rather not discuss it.

Special Agent Jameson catches spies for Homeland Security. It is a good week when nobody is shooting at her. She is about to run out of good weeks.

Books One and Two. Someone drops a military-grade bomb on her front lawn. The DC police want her in handcuffs, her own bosses are lying to her face, and every source she talks to ends up on a slab before she can ask a second question. The conspiracy runs through Homeland, into Langley, and out to a foreign head of state marked for a very American kind of regime change.

Book Three. A priest with a code name gets his throat cut on a Wednesday. By Friday, Sam comes home to a splintered door and no Brock. The people who took him have owned the last four presidential elections and do not consider her a serious problem. By Monday night she has shot the chairman of the World Bank twice, and she is not finished.

Books Four and Five. Tuesday morning, the money stops working. Twelve Federal Reserve banks wake with their ledgers overwritten. From rural Oklahoma to a Moscow prison, Sam hunts whoever is quietly buying the currency that replaces the dollar.

Three volumes. Five novels. The opening arc of the million-selling Sam Jameson series, for readers of Daniel Silva, David Baldacci, Vince Flynn and Brad Thor.

Sam Jameson begins this arc with a house, a career, and a chain of command she has no particular reason to doubt. She ends it with none of the three.

She died twice in one afternoon. It didn't take.

Genre & Subgenres

For readers of Daniel Silva, David Baldacci, Vince Flynn / Kyle Mills and Steve Berry.

Primary Genre

Espionage & Conspiracy Thriller

Five novels in which the threat resolves upward: from the men shooting at her, to the men signing their cheques, to institutions that were never going to help. The antagonist is never finally a person.

For readers ofDaniel Silva · David Baldacci · Vince Flynn
The Heart Of It

Romantic Suspense (Books One to Three)

Sam and Brock are the leverage, not the subplot. Through the first three books the opposition works out that taking him is faster than beating her. By books four and five they are reunited and working as partners, so the jeopardy resolves before the volume ends.

For readers ofCatherine Coulter · Karen Rose
Secondary Genre

Political & Financial Conspiracy

An oligarchy that owns the last four presidential elections, and a syndicate that switches off the dollar on a Tuesday morning. The climaxes here are ledgers and databases rather than bombs.

Who's Behind The Chaos

About The Author

Lars Emmerich, author of the Sam Jameson series

When Lars Emmerich was twelve, he went to an airshow. An F-16 flew over the crowd, low and fast and impossibly loud. Something stirred in his chest and tears formed in his eyes. It was love at first sight. Lars and the F-16 went on to enjoy fifteen incredible years together.

While Lars was a young lieutenant in Undergraduate Pilot Training, he read a Tom Clancy novel. It was his first exposure to the espionage and conspiracy thriller genre, and again it was love at first sight. “I will write stories like this one day,” he vowed solemnly.

He’s still trying to live up to that promise.
